Technical and Historical Notes

The result of an unauthorized modification, the B Gundam is in fact little more than a standard RB-79 Ball mounting a large faceplate inspired by Amuro Ray's RX-78-2 Gundam. The modification is performed on a whim by its pilot, the young and enthusiastic pilot Umon Samon. However, Umon gives absolutely no thought to anything but aesthetics; the faceplate is nothing more than dead weight and interferes with the view through the Ball's main window, resulting in a machine with even poorer performance than the already infamous "flying coffin." Despite these handicaps, Umon manages to shoot down six MS-09R Rick Doms during the Battle of Solomon, which marks the beginning of his six decade-long career as a mobile suit pilot.
