Technical and Historical Notes

Developed to be the new symbol of freedom for the League Militaire resistance group, the LM314V21 Victory Two Gundam is the direct descendant of the original LM312V04 Victory Gundam. The V2 Gundam retains the three-component Core Fighter/Top Fighter/Bottom Fighter transformation and combination system of the original, while incorporating new technologies and an increase in performance. The most significant of these new technologies is the "Minovsky drive" system, a development of the Victory Gundam's Minovsky flight system, but operating like a MS-sized version of a battleship's Minovsky craft system. The Minovsky drive allows the V2 Gundam to achieve atmospheric flight and hovering abilities, as well as flight in space, without the use of conventional rocket thrusters (although the V2 does still use conventional rocket-style vernier thrusters for some maneuvering). In addition to providing the V2 with its flight thrust, the Minovsky drive can also be used as an offensive or defensive weapon, as the energies produced by the drive can be manifested as a pair of large beam "wings of light." These wings of light can be used in a variety of ways, from acting as giant slicing beam weapons, to providing additional beam shield defense for the V2 itself or several other targets at once. Aside from the added benefits of the Minovsky drive, the armament of the V2 Gundam is basically the same as the original Victory model. However, the V2 is also designed to be fitted with additional armor and weapons systems when necessary. Two such "powered up" forms include the LM314V23 V2 Buster Gundam and LM314V24 V2 Assault Gundam. Ace League Militaire pilot Uso Ewin is the assigned main pilot of the resistance group's single V2 unit, and he uses this powerful mobile suit quite effectively during the Zanscare War in UC 0153.
