Technical and Historical Notes

In AC 175 OZ, an affiliate of the Romefeller Foundation, is charged with designing and building the first combat-capable mobile suit. The results exceed all expectations, as the OZ-00MS Tallgeese proves so powerful that no ordinary pilot can handle it. Although equipped with a pair of beam sabers and a shell-firing "dobergun," the Tallgeese's biggest advantage is its size and speed. Being a large and heavy mobile suit, it requires an enormous amount of thrust for jumping and maneuvering. However, its designers equip it with a tremendous vernier rocket system that gives it enough thrust to maintain flight on its own - over three times the acceleration of OZ's later air combat model mobile suit, the OZ-07AMS Aires. However, the sheer stress and G-forces placed upon the pilot make the Tallgeese too much of a "wild horse" for anyone to handle, and the mobile suit is disassembled and put into storage, ostensibly to serve as a "museum piece." Although the five scientists who design the Tallgeese leave OZ to follow other pursuits after colony leader Heero Yuy's assassination, OZ begins full-scale mobile suit production, using the Tallgeese as the basis for its smaller, less-powerful OZ-06MS Leo units. It isn't until 20 years later that the Tallgeese resurfaces when OZ pilot Zechs Merquise, desperate to find a weapon capable of helping him take on those same scientists' powerful Gundam mobile suits, brings the Tallgeese out of mothballs and makes it operational again. Despite the physical punishment, Zechs would becomes the only pilot to master the prototype mobile suit, making it his personal unit until he's later forced to self-detonate it to save his own life while being pursued by OZ space forces.
