As the 7th Space War dragged on, the United Nations Earth needed to field as many weapons as it could against the Space Revolutionary Army's mass produced mobile suits. One stopgap measure included upgrading civilian worker pods into the DT-6600 Daughtap. The Daughtap's only armament consisted of a single 80mm cannon mounted underneath the main body. The Daughtap's main role was to defend battleships and provide support for the DT-6800A Daughtress. Naturally, the Daughtap faired poorly against the SRA's mobile suits, but many survived and were later modified by civilians to produce designs such as the Daughtap Underwater Type.
