Technical and Historical Notes

The Gryps Conflict sees the introduction of many new experimental mobile suit technologies. The AEUG learns of Axis' transformable mobile suits AMX-001 Gaza A and AMX-002 Gaza B from Char Aznable and decides to create their own model under the "Zeta Project." The first attempt is the MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki, but the design is unable to incorporate a transformation feature. Anaheim Electronics is determined to create a transformable mobile suit, and their next attempt is the successful MSA-005 Methuss. The next step in the Zeta Project is three prototype units. These units do not incorporate the ability to transform and are identical except for the heads. The X1 incorporates a head similar to that used on the Hyaku Shiki. In the end it was decided that the head used on the X1 was superior and was eventually used on the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam.
