Technical and Historical Notes

After studying data obtained from the Bahamut computer, Megazone 23's military creates several transformable maneuver slaves, including the Hargan and the more advanced Garland. The Garland is stolen by its test pilot and falls into the hands of motorcycle enthusiast Shogo Yahagi. After a battle against BD's Hargan, an injured Shogo is forced to abandon the Garland. The Garland is reclaimed by the military, which repairs it and re-designates it as the GR-00X Prototype Garland. The military uses the Prototype Garland to lure Shogo into a trap, but Shogo is able to steal it once more thanks to assistance from the biker gang Trash. Trash is pursued by the military while attempting to reach Bahamut, and Shogo trades places with Trash leader Lightning. The Prototype Garland's maneuver slave mode is heavily damaged in a duel with Yuichiro Shiratori's Tal-052-H-O Wilde Sau, but it survives and is brought down to Earth in Megazone 23's escape capsule. The Prototype Garland remains dormant for the next five centuries, until it is rediscovered by the new operator of 7G, Eiji Takanaka. Amazingly, the Prototype Garland still has power and contains a data unit left behind by Shogo.
