Technical and Historical Notes

The SOV-9800 Nautilas is a remote control underwater operations labor produced by Buchiyama Heavy Industries. The Nautilas is remotely controlled from its mothership, and cameras mounted on its body transmit video back to the pilot's control console. When a mysterious sea monster begins stalking Tokyo Bay, the police department uses a Nautilas to search underwater. The Nautilas is remotely controlled by Special Vehicles Section 2 mechanic Shigeo "Shige" Shiba, but it's destroyed after discovering the sea monster.
