Technical and Historical Notes

The ARV-99 Rescue Labor is a fire emergency labor produced by Shinohara Heavy Industries and used by the Tokyo Fire Department. Because the Rescue Labor works in high heat environments, the unit is designed to be fire and heatproof to protect its pilot. To fulfill its main role of extinguishing fires, the Rescue Labor is equipped with a pair of water cannons on its shoulders. In 1998, both the fire and police departments are called out for a high risk job when a fire breaks out at the Tower City skyscraper under construction in Tama. As the fire labors deal with the fire, the police's AV-98 Ingrams carry out a rescue of the personnel and dignitaries trapped high in the tower.
