Technical and Historical Notes

A W-series machine built by the Shadow Mirrors, the ArcGain is a miniaturized version of Axel Almer’s EG-X Soulgain. Unlike the rest of the W-series, the ArcGain is not built to resemble a human. Like the Soulgain, the ArcGain has two blades on its arms, and fights using martial arts. It also has cannons in each foot, making its kicks more powerful. It can teleport independently, and is programmed to serve W00, Haken Browning.

The ArcGain is on board the battleship Neverland that is used to test the dimensional teleportation device, System XN. The half of the ship containing the ArcGain crashes on the world of Formido Heim, where the ArcGain is reprogrammed. The ArcGain, along with the Weissritter Abend and the Alteisen Nacht, accompanies Formido Heim’s king, Stahl Deib, through a sealed Cross Gate into the world of the Einst. Deib and the three machines eventually return, however they have been corrupted by the Einst. The three machines receive an increase in combat ability, along with self-regenerating armor. Deib begins the Ten Year War against the world of Elfetale shortly afterward. The ArcGain causes much devastation during the war. Realizing his king has changed, Ezel Granada, leader of Formido Heim’s elite Orchestral Army, revolts. Ezel manages to kill the Einst Deib, but the Orchestral Army is almost completely wiped out. The Ten Year War ends, and the ArcGain, Abend, and Nacht disappear.

Three years later, the ArcGain shows itself again with unknown motives. Haken Browning, now a bounty hunter, encounters the ArcGain on two separate occasions. The Einst manage to keep the ArcGain under control by using copies of Haken, whom the ArcGain is programmed to obey. After being defeated during the second encounter, the ArcGain self-destructs.
