There is already a MSiA God Gundam out there, but for a few bucks
more you can buy it together with the mobile horse seen in G
Gundam, Fuunsaiki. It would be well worth it because of the
various poses than they can strike together, from Fuunsaiki charging
to rearing up on its hind legs, both with God Gundam on top. Let's
get to the details.
Head
The
head has excellent left-to-right motion, being able to turn 360
degrees with no problem. Up-and-down motion is decent, in fact
somewhat better than most other MSiA I own. Very nicely detailed
but needs a few thin black lines painted on the side. The V-fins
are somewhat pointed more sideways instead of back, which won't
quite look exactly right in some poses.
Torso
The
torso is wide and for some reason seems shorter than what it should
be. Like the sides of the head, it is missing some thin black
lines, like on the vents. The center of the chest covers up the
the entire face of the Gundam when open, so I typically do not
open it, even for hyper mode. The machine cannons on either shoulder
are very easy to change out form the closed hatches to the open
guns, and they only affect the movement of the head when opened,
but that is to be expected. The wings themselves stay on well
and the heat ring does too, so no worries there. However, this
part is best left untouched.
Arms
Alone,
the arms have great articulation. The thick shoulders do not really
hinder anything, which is good. The hands can be changed out into
normal half-grasp, fists, karate-chop stance type, and the God
Finger. The forearm guards can likewise be changed out from normal
to God Finger style, and they stay on well. If you want to try
to put the God Gundam into any kind of Sekiha-Tenkyoken stance,
then use slight caution, as the wide torso may cause one of the
stretched-over arms to come loose and possibly fall.
Legs
I
would say this is where the most articulation lies. The front
skirt armor is not too hindering on them, and the capability of
the feet to bend greatly at mid-point allows for good kicking
poses. The legs use a ball-and-socket system, like the arms, and
can be turned to the side with a little coaxing. The knee joint
can bend rather far back but the back skirt armor is stiff, so
movement is limited in that direction.
Weapons
and Accessories
This
is where Fuunsaiki comes in. It looks very nice as a single figure,
and God Gundam on it makes it even better. The back legs are stable
but the front ones are not, which makes way for occasional slipping.
The overall articulation on the horse is not too great, but the
legs can bend in a number of ways at the joints within them, but
not where they connect to the body. The Gundam fits easily on
it but has difficulty staying on. The reign does not stay on well
at all. It has to fit in two tiny spaces on either side of Fuunsaiki's
head, so it has little chance of staying on for long, if at all.
The same can be said for the beam saber handles in the hands;
they will stay in but the grip is not firm. The beam sabers themselves
stay in okay, but are prone to a fall-out every so often when
being handled.
Conclusion
This is basically a figure for a G Gundam fan like myself,
because the lack of overall weapons and accessories may disappoint
other MSiA fans. But on the plus side, the poses that can be struck
are awesome, and easily done. I would recommend this figure to
be bought by any MSiA fan, as it can make a good shelf-poser :)
