Ah, the Zaku II. The grunt unit of Zeon up until the mass-production of the Dom. The Zaku II MSiA wasn't very well done, though I must consider it was one of the first ones. This second version of it sounded neat so I bought it about a year and a half ago and now I'm reviewing it and the special release Zeon Weapon Set, but I'll get more into detail with that later. Here's my review of the MS-06F/J Zaku II Second Version and the Dengeki Hobby Zeon Weapon Set.
The head of the MS-06F/J is re-done completely and features better black panel-lines and a light Zaku green color. The scanner is black while the eye is pink. The head get's more of a "Zaku-y" look to it and it's more menacing. the head can look up, down, and side to side 360 degrees around. It is on a special joint which gives it more room to look around. The little vent on the "mouth" is silver... didn't think Bandai would be so precise!
The torso is another re-done part of the Zaku and features a dark Zaku green and
light Zaku green for the main parts and cables. There are black panel-lines on
the cables but nowhere else. The skirt armor is molded well but cannot move or
it will be warped. The skirt armor features a hole on each side for the heat
hawk or panzer faust (not included). There is also a hole on his back for his
Zaku bazooka rack. Sadly there is no machine gun magazine hole. The cockpit area
is in gray and is neatly done. The removable backpack is a bluish gray ( a
little lighter than the Gelgoog MSiA) and the vents and boosters are black and
silver. There is tons of detail whether the backpack is on or off and the
boosters can move a great deal.
The double-jointed, light Zaku green arms are panel-lined very well and the shield is connected via ball joint so you can move it a little. The hand is also on with a ball joint for maximum articulation. The spike shoulder piece is again, on a ball joint so that it can be moved a little. The elbows are in gray and be careful because some of the Zaku MSiA's arms can be molded wrong and their arms can fall off with just a touch. I had to sell my first Zaku II Second Version because that happened and I tried everything to fix it and nothing worked and if you slightly touched it, it would fall off.
The panel-lined legs are in light Zaku green and have gray kneecaps and gray near the bottom of the feet. The legs are double-jointed and the feet do the same thing as the Gundam second version's; there is a ball joint near the front of the upper foot so that the lower foot can move back...another words, if he kneeled, both his feet would still completely be touching the ground flat. The bottom of the feet has great detail and silver and black thrusters everywhere.
Zaku II:
Hands- All hands (2 fists, 2 trigger, 2 saber holding) serve their purpose well.
120mm machine gun- The redesigned 120mm features a removable clip and the little front handle swivels from side to side.
120mm machine gun w/grenade launcher- This awesome gun was seen in Gundam 0083 a lot and has a removable clip and a side handle that can fold in. Both machine guns have a pink sight and are molded in gray
Anti-air magazine- This clip can go on either machine gun and is a neat accessory. Molded in gray
Heat hawk- A bigger version of the first MSiA Zaku's, this heat hawk is a lot more detailed and features gray, purple, and yellow colors.
Missile pods- these redesigned missile pods still feature that annoying strap that you STILL can't really get on easily (for me at least) but are still nice and are molded in gray and have little red missiles.
280mm Zaku bazooka- This redesigned bazooka is molded in gray and has a pink sight. Features a swiveling front handle.
Zaku bazooka rack- Molded in gray, serves purpose well.
Cracker grenades- These are a neat thing to have and are molded in gray They fit in the Zaku's hand well.
Magella Top cannon- THis gray and silver top cannon is a neat accessory.
Dengeki Hobby Zeon Weapon Set:
Panzer faust- Even though it was later released with the Dom 2.0, this is still neat to have for your Zaku 2.0. Molded in gray
Spike shield- This is the only thing you need to make your Zaku II into a Zaku II Ground. Neatly molded and fits in nice and tight. Molded in dark Zaku green.
Zaku Gatling shield- This is just the Gouf Custom's gatling shield just painted for a Zaku II and has a different handle. Still this gray, gold, and light and dark Zaku green shield is a nice piece for your Zaku II Ground.
A great re-make of the Zaku II and comes with lots of neat accessories. Though the whole "arm falling off" thing really got me mad because it did this with Garma's Zaku too. The Dengeki Hobby Zeon Weapon Set has no flaws and every piece was rare and worth it.
Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars (Zaku); 5 out of 5 stars (Weapon Set)
