Inspired by the RX-78GP03 Dendrobium Orchis unit from Gundam 0083, the METEOR (Mobile suit Embedded Tactical EnfORcer) is the ultimate in support units from Gundam SEED and DESTINY - long range support, short range support, and all around space warfare dominance.
ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam- The METEOR comes with a 1/144 HG Freedom Gundam which is identical to the HG Freedom Gundam already reviewed on this site.
Weapons and Accessories- The METEOR unit is comprised of the Body, Arms and Stand.
Body
The main body of the METEOR unit is very hollow. It has structure added in the form of interior ribbing, but is basically a hollow unit. There is a joint for attaching the stand, the two-piece engine cones in the back with moving blast shields. The top and bottom plates that move for transformation are similarly hollow. They move stiffly, but hold their position well. The tail contains three opening doors with missile emplacements. The front of the body has molded engine intake turbines (which doesn't make too much sense for a space-type unit, but I digress). Next to each intake turbine there is a missile pod with opening hatch doors for more missile mayhem. There are two two-piece beam guns that plug in on a pivot joint to each said missile pod. There are stickers for coloring, but painting is better =).
Arms
The arms are of a similar hollow-with-ribbing construction. Each arm is connected to the body with a ball joint to an arm on a sliding track inside the METEOR main body. This allows minor posing of the arms, but more side to side than vertical. The side of each arm contains another missile pod with an opening door. The inside of each arm has a handle grip for the controlling Gundam. The front of the arms have the beam gun port where the beam blades plug in. The blades are a little hard to insert and remove, but are very stable once in. Just watch the paint. Some painting here to make the show colors. The METEOR decal comes in two parts (since it's so long).
Stand
The stand is a two-piece construction, but very stable for it. It contains two racks - one for the Freedom/Justice shield and the other for said Gundams' beam rifle. It plugs into the bottom of the METEOR and then slides in to lock.
Conclusion
This thing is huge!! 600mm (almost 2 feet) long, 1 meter (40 inches) with beam blades attached, it is an imposing sight wherever you put it. It's so hollow, putting all sorts of lights into it is a breeze (if you're into that sort of thing). Also, there is an interesting texture pattern all over it that is very interesting when colored with a washing technique. My only real complaints are a few pieces that could have been separated to be colored properly and that the arms can't be aimed vertical for that "cut you real good" pose. Otherwise, you just can't beat this model (a lot cheaper than the Dendrobium, too).
