Introduction

Contributor: Jones Kingsu
Date: January 2, 2006

This MSiA’s a tough find. It didn’t reach Philippine shores and I was quite hesitant to purchase it off HobbyLink Japan. While on vacation in Hong Kong, I came upon the only Blitz Gundam in my four day stay there. Funny thing is that I already have the complete Strike system and I already have the GINNs as well as the Buster Gundam, might as well get this one.

Head

Unfortunately for me that my figure came with a bent right V-Fin. It can’t be helped since it’s the only one left on the shelf. The colors are standard. Nothing spectacular can be said about it. Poseability’s the winner here. The small head and extended neck allowed optimum movement. Fully rotate-able head sideways (360º) and tilt downward and upward 45º. It’s not always one has an MSiA that can look up.

Torso

Yep… this has got to be the most plain torso in the 4th generation MSiA era. I can’t really say much with regards to the design since it’s the mecha designer’s vision on how it should look. But I will say that the poseability factor suffered much. The waist area is too snug for any twisting movement. As if that wasn’t bad enough. The side and rear hip armors get in the way. You can throw away any movement you thought you could do with this figure. It’s a good thing that the front hip armors are made of the new soft-plastic material for the leg movements. I’m sorry Bandai toy developers, but I give this one a thumbs-down.

My figure’s backpack’s also warped but that’s a factory defect isolated on my figure alone… (I sure hope it is.) Nothing special about it. No gimmicks. Nothing.

Arms

Plain again. Nothing fancy about this one. The only elaborate design would be the shoulder armor and that’s just about it. What they lacked in the torso department, they made up with the arms. Ball-and-socket shoulder, swing forward and back shoulders, double-jointed elbows and another ball-and-socket wrists make the arms über poseable. Although lacking in design makes the elbows go the other way a bit but it doesn’t look that bad.

Legs

Blitz does look like a leg model. He has them slim and that makes them look like they run for miles and miles. But that’s just it. Poseability’s been hampered though. There’s no problem with the thigh area but the knees aren’t double jointed and the rotation of the lower knees are zero even if the option is available. The design of the knees blocks any rotations. It’s even got a tibia (shin guards) protective armor that you can open to reveal the internals. Ball-and-sockets for the ankles but movement’s also a minimum due to the design again. Perhaps the original mecha designer didn’t think this through. The shows were made to sell these toys anyway.

Weapons and Accessories

The “Trikeros” (Where do these people come up with the new weapon names!?!?) is the main feature of the figure. The design’s faithful to the anime series and functions like it too! It sports three removable Lancer Darts of three different lengths. It also houses the beam saber handle which can be removed.

The second feature is the “Gleipnir” anchor weapon. Fully detachable and can be placed on a plastic “line” to give it that thrown-effect. The claws are replaceable either closed or opened. It also has verniers that can be adjusted to corresponding vectors.

Both of these weapon systems are attached snugly but can be attached and removed with little effort. Why can’t all MSiAs have this kind of attachment?

Conclusion

This figure shows a lot of promise with regards to articulations but came short of it. That’s what MSiAs feature anyway: multiple points of articulation.
