Dynomutt vs Gundam... Ready?? FIGHT!

Why is it that American TV robots are sometimes underestimated? Take Dynomutt for example. (If you don’t know who Dynomutt is, go watch some retro TV, you need to be educated.) Dynomutt, the closest thing to a robotic super hero to come out of late 70’s US TV was partnered up with Blue Falcon, a Batman wanna be with a jet powered flying car. Basically, he was Space Ghost without the space… or planet… or kids nagging him….. Never mind, I’m getting off topic. Anyway, Dynomutt was a robotic dog. He talked like a human being, acted like a goofball and never quite got anything right.

What’s really interesting is that Dynomutt probably had MORE tools, tricks and abilities than ANY mecha I’ve ever seen. His only rival in terms of usable functions would have to be the other bumbling robot, Inspector Gadget. Dynomutt has weapons, thrusters, traps, flexible limbs, extensive disguises, even a rocket head. In truth, Dynomutt could do just about anything that was ever needed.

Sadly, for all these functions, Dynomutt biggest problem was he wasn’t built quite right. He consistently had malfunctions, or the wrong tool would work at the wrong time. But lets be fair, what if Dynomutt was Perfect Dynomutt? Smarter, faster, properly built. Would he be a match for the modern war machines of the Gundam Universe? Perhaps. Because of Dynomutt’s small size, flexible limbs and rocket boots, I think Dynomutt might very well have the same advantage over a Gundam as the Snow Speeders of Hoth had against the AT-ATs of the Galactic Empire. So let's do this…

Dynomutt vs. Strike Gundam…..Ready?? FIGHT!

The winner will be determined by number of wins in different categories.

Firepower
Winner: Strike Gundam
Hands down, Gundam wins this category. A rocket head won’t help against neo-titanium.

Mobility
Winner: Dynomutt
Being smaller, more flexible and with rocket boosters, Dynomutt wins.

Concealment
Winner:
Dynomutt
Again, his small size, and large number of disguises will help him keep out of sight, or better, make the pilot second guess his actions. Look! It's Lacus Clyne! With a tail!

Range
Winner:
Tie
Because both units are battery powered, it would be a close call as far as who could last longer.

Backup
Winner:
Strike Gundam
Blue Falcon and a flying car vs. the Archangel… point, set, match.

So there you have it, a 2-2 with a tie. Dynomutt might very well be a match for the Strike Gundam. Someday maybe some fan artist will actually make this battle happen and we will get to see its outcome. Until then, I can dream.
