The Aegis class destroyer patrolled Orb’s oceans and helped maintain its neutrality by keeping out ships from both ZAFT and the Earth Alliance. Aegis ships were armed with several large guns, as well as various anti-ship and anti-air missile launchers. They also featured three landing pads for Combat Helicopters as well as mobile suits. Although the Aegis class could hold its own in ship-to-ship combat, it was an easy target for the Alliance’s new Gundam models during the attack on Orb in June C.E. 71.
