During the First Neo Zeon War in UC 0088, the AMX-011 Zaku III was developed as a mainline mass production mobile suit, but ultimately it lost out in priority to the AMX-014 Doven Wolf. After the war, Neo Zeon remnants adapted the improved AMX-011C Zaku III Late Type into the AMX-011CR Zaku III High Mobility Type. This variant featured a backpack with a propellant load capacity that was three times larger than the AMX-011C. It also omitted the snout mega particle cannon and had significantly enhanced generator output that set it apart from the AMS-119 Geara Doga. Its armaments included the mega machine gun SPS, a bazooka, two mega particle cannons, a beam saber, missile launcher and cracker grenades. The Zaku III High Mobility Type was used by multiple splinter Zeon remnant groups, including Legacy, NSP (New Summer Project) and the Gwynedd Volunteer Forces.
