Brave Saga

Brave Saga

Inspired by the success of Transformers, Sunrise, Nagoya TV and toy maker Takara collaborated on a series of super robot shows that form the "Brave Saga." While the eight shows in the Brave Saga all follow the theme of humans working together with robots, they are all set in their own separate continuities with no relations between the series. In 1990, Brave Exkaiser premiered as the first Brave series under the direction of Katsuyoshi Yatabe, who also later directed Brave of the Sun Fighbird and Legendary Brave Da-Garn. Later series feature work from directors such as Shinji Takamatsu (Gundam X) and Ryosuke Takahashi (VOTOMS). The final TV production in the series was 1997's King of Braves GaoGaiGar. After the end of GaoGaiGar, Takara switched its focus to creating new Transformers series. In 2006, Media Blasters licensed GaoGaiGar, making it the first (and only) "Brave" series to be released in the U.S.
