Summary

In a forested mountain area the Yokko, a large machine controlled by Nichirin Nyudou, burns a Japanese kanji of "thick" into the forested mountain side with the Nichirinkou. In his temple Shogun Mifune thanks Nichirin for burning the kanji of "dog" into the mountain side. Shogun Mifune then orders Nichirin to burn down Nouvelle Tokyo City so they can reconstruct Edo, the true capital of Japan, which he'll name Dog-Ville. In his house Maito is watching the news report while wondering who did it. Suddenly Maito's grandpa Yujiro Senpuhji appears and tackles Maito and starts hugging him. He says he has a lot of presents for Maito and two cranes drop a bunch of presents out. He say he also bought a beach and golf course but couldn't bring it along. He then wants to plant Cherry Blossoms but Maito says he has work. Yujiro then talks about the oil shortage several years ago with all the oil companies going out of business, causing cars, planes and boats to become useless. And how he was the one who knew the future was in electric trains and he built up the Senpuhji Company in one generation. Maito, Yujiro and Aoki then head off to Neo-Ueno Park to see the Cheery Blossoms. Three big guys then start to yell at Sally about some lie about how one of them broke their tooth on the takoyaki. Sally tells them not to lie, but one guy grabs her. Maito arrives and beats the three guys and asks Sally for a takoyaki. Suddenly the Yokko appears in the sky and starts burning the city with the Nichirinkou. Maito runs off and orders Gaine and Might Wing to launch. Might Wing arrives and Yujiro begs Maito to let him one time, but Maito distracts him with the takoyaki and runs off. In the sky Maito notices that it was them who puts the character into the mountain. They then combine into Might Gaine and start their attack with Signal Beam, which has no effect. Mighty Slicer is tried next but has the same result. Nichirin taunts Might Gaine that no beam or missile can damage the Yokko. Yokko then attacks with Nichirinkou and knocks Might Gaine away.

Gain, Locomoriser and Might Wing lie in the crater created by the beam. Gaine tells Maito if they didn't separate at the right time they would have been incinerated. Gaine then says they'll have to wait until sunset since they can't fight them head on. Maito doesn't want to wait but then suddenly Yujiro comes out of the back and says they can't win with that kind of plan and he wants to attack now with Might Wing. Maito wants to go to since they can't wait or the town will be destroyed. Gaine notices that the wings are the weak points and he'll break them with support of Gaine. Might Wing flies out and heads for the Yokko, Gaine supports Maito but the Gaine Shot is useless against the wire-guided weapons. Suddenly Yujiro grabs the controls and manages to tangle up the wires of the weapons and crashes into the wings of the Yokko. Yujiro and Maito then head for the control room but run into the guards. Maito easily defeats the guards and heads to the control room and its leader Nichirin Nyudou. Maito tells Nichirin to surrender but Maito refuses and attacks, and Nichirin paralyzes Maito with his stick. Maito asks how he did it and Nichirin tells him the stick hypnotized him. Yujiro knocks the rod out of Nichirin's hands and then Maito gets up and punches Nichirin in the face, knocking him down. Might Wing then leaves as the Yokko crash lands. Suddenly the Yokko transforms into a giant robot and attacks. They combine into Might Gaine again and pull out the Dou-Rin-Ken. Yokko attacks with Nichirinkou but Might Gaine is able to dodge the attack. Yujiro comments how hot it is and how he could use a cold beer, Maito then thinks of fire and water and calls the Divers and Bombers. They arrive and combine into Guard Diver and TriBomber, respectively. Maito orders Guard Diver to spray water in the eye and TriBomber to break the eye. They do so and Might Gaine finishes off Yokko with Ichimonji-Giri. At his temple Shogun Mifune gets mad and says he'll never forgive Might Gaine. After the battle Gaine says he is sick of hot things but Yujiro points out Sally because of the warmth.

Commentary

In this episode we are introduced to Maito's grandfather Yujiro Senpuhji, the man who built up the Senpuhji Company. Though from his story he once a great man he is now a bit crazy and provides some comic relief. Shogun Mifune's latest plot just seems to be a bit crazy. While you can understand the whole feudal Japan thing, why would he want to name the new capital Dog-Ville? What was the point of carving large kanji in the mountains and city instead of just destroying it? Might Gaine also manages to pull out two of its rarer weapons: Signal Beam and Mighty Slicer. While Mighty Slicer is overall useless it seems like Signal Beam would be useful.
