Broken Blade
Broken Blade is a six film series based on the ongoing manga created by Yunosuke Yoshinaga. Directed by Tetsuro Amino (Macross 7) and Nobuyoshi Habara (Fafner), with mecha designs by Takayuki Yanase (Gundam 00), the six films were released theatrically in Japan from 2010 to 2011. Set in a fantasy world, most people are capable of manipulating quartz, and these "sorcerers" can use quartz powered vehicles, including humanoid robots called Golems. However, occasionally a rare "unsorcerer" who can't manipulate quartz is born. As war breaks out between the nations of Krisna and Athens, unsorcerer Rygart Arrow is drawn into the conflict when it's discovered he can pilot an ancient Golem that will move for no one else. As the conflict deepens, Rygart is caught between old friends on both sides of the war. The films have been released on Blu-ray and DVD in the U.S. by Sentai Filmworks.
