Technical and Historical Notes

The Big Gun was a mobile suit sniper turret developed by the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War. The Big Gun mounted a large beam cannon on the turret and was powered by three generators. The Big Gun’s sensors interfaced with the controlling mobile suit to scan the area for potential targets. Due to particles converging in the Big Gun’s barrel, it wore out after several shots and required constant replacement. In December UC 0079, Zeon troops from the Living Dead Battalion used multiple Big Guns to snipe enemy targets in the Thunderbolt Sector. The Big Gun’s legs featured clamps to lock the turret into position. In the Thunderbolt Sector, Big Guns were often attached to large pieces of space colony wreckage floating in the ruins of Side 4.
