The Budokan was a civilian concert ship in the Macross 7 long-distance emigration fleet. Its name and design were inspired by the Nippon Budokan, a famous martial arts and concert arena in the Earth city of Tokyo. The Budokan‘s exterior was equipped with many searchlights and holographic projectors. In April 2047, the Budokan was set to host the final concert of Fire Bomber, until lead singer Basara Nekki disappeared without warning to travel through the galaxy.
