The Bug was an anti-personnel weapon created as part of Korozo Ronah’s secret Lafressia Project. Believing that the Earth Sphere was overpopulated, Korozo developed the automated Bugs with the purpose of specifically killing humans to clear out a space colony while leaving the colony structure intact. The Bugs detected humans through motion, body heat, or respiration, and they were capable of attacking humans within mobile suits, tanks or other vehicles. The Bugs were armed with high speed chainsaws and laser torches and could deploy smaller Child Bugs, armed with chainsaws and grenades, to attack targets in confined spaces. In March UC 0123, Korozo unleashed the Bugs at the Frontier I Colony as a test before a planned wide-scale deployment on Earth and the Moon.
