C.C. takes a swim at the school’s pool while Lelouch looks over Black Knights application files. He’s surprised to see an application from Diethard and thinks that’s pretty daring for a spy. Because he created the Black Knights as the allies of justice, many Elevens are flocking to it, and the organization is receiving Knightmares from the Kyoto House. Viletta and Jeremiah ask Diethard for help, but he points out that he’s been demoted like them. Jeremiah says they have clues about Zero, and Viletta wants Diethard to investigate the male students of Ashford Academy because she thinks there’s a connection to Zero. They can’t do anything because they’re being deployed to Narita, where the JLF’s base is located. At a secret warehouse, Black Knights members happily examine the new Burais sent to them by Kyoto. They’ve also sent the Guren Mk-II, the first wholly Japanese Knightmare. Lelouch gives the Guren’s key to Kallen, saying that she’s their ace pilot and trump card. Ohgi tells Lelouch they have some interesting information from Diethard, and Lelouch examines it and suggests taking a trip to Narita. The next morning, Nunnally tells Sayoko that Lelouch is taking a three day vacation. At Narita, Lelouch uses Geass to order two JLF outpost guards to ignore all activities outside as the Black Knights move into position. As Cornelia’s G-1 Base moves toward Narita, Darlton reports that they’ve surrounded the JLF base and are ready to attack at any time. At school, Nina tells Milly that she wants to meet Euphemia to thank her, but Milly thinks that’s a crazy idea. Lelouch asks C.C. why she followed him, and she says she’s going to protect him. Guilford asks Cornelia if it wasn’t better to have Euphemia stay behind, but Cornelia answers that Euphemia insisted on coming to see a real battle. On the mountain range, the Black Knights install devices that begin pumping out oil from the ground. Cornelia launches in her custom Gloucester, and Sutherlands deploy from the ground and air to surround the mountain. Tamaki complains that they won’t have an escape route, and Lelouch says they’ll fight to get out. He says messiahs aren’t recognized until they create miracles, and an angry Tamaki pulls out his machine gun. Lelouch offers out his gun and tells everyone they can shoot him if they think they can win without him. He notes they have two choices as Black Knights: live with him or die with him.
The JLF’s leader, General Katase, is informed that Cornelia is sending a request for them to surrender, but he refuses, saying that if they surrender, Japanese resistance comes to an end. He asks where Tohdoh is and is told that Tohdoh and the Four Holy Swords went to Kyoto to pick up their Burai Kais. Katase orders the launch of their Burai forces. Three Burais attack Cornelia, but she easily destroys them with her lance. Lelouch asks Tamaki and the others to challenge him, but they relent and say he’s the leader. In the city, Bartley’s secret researchers worry that they may be discovered. Darlton’s forces find the location of the JLF’s base within the mountain and fire a flare to signal Cornelia. Lelouch comments that her tactics are well-planned, but the more elaborate they are, the easier they are for him to see through. On the outskirts of the battle, Jeremiah complains to Viletta about not being deployed, saying he’ll never have chance to reclaim his honor. Tohdoh’s trucks break through barricades on the road to Narita, but they’re still 80 kilometers away. With preparations complete, Lelouch orders the Black Knights to head down the mountainside and ambush the Britannians. Their goal: capture Cornelia alive. Kallen uses the Guren’s radiation wave to set off the devices planted in the ground, triggering a massive landslide that engulfs JLF and Britannian forces. Cecile wonders if someone triggered a steam explosion, but Lloyd says they’d have to use a radiation wave. The landslide continues to travel down the side of the mountain and hits parts of Narita city as well. The Black Knights initiate their attack, and Jeremiah rushes in against orders so that he can attack Zero. Jeremiah attacks Lelouch’s two escorts, forcing them to eject from their Burais. Jeremiah issues a challenge to Zero, and Lelouch answers that he doesn’t have time to fight with Orange. Jeremiah rushes toward Lelouch’s custom Burai to attack, but Kallen jumps in with the Guren and blocks Jeremiah. Jeremiah attacks Kallen, but she easily dodges his attacks thanks to the Guren’s mobility. She uses the radiation wave on Jeremiah’s Sutherland, and his cockpit auto ejects after the Sutherland is warped by the radiation surge. With all the conditions clear, Lelouch believes the only thing left is to checkmate the enemy.
Having succeeded with the Black Knights’ first appearance at Kawaguchi, it’s clear that Lelouch has been building up the organization for something bigger. With Britannia’s attack on the JLF base in Narita, that’s it. He’s hatched a plan to capture Cornelia by jumping in during the middle of the fight between Britannia and the JLF. Now that the Black Knights have Burais, they don’t have to sneak around and can openly fight the Britannians. This is especially true with Kallen and her fancy Guren, which has that handy radiation surge arm. She sure does a number on poor Jeremiah, who becomes more of a loser nemesis with every breath. Not only did his Sutherland get trashed, but it looks like he was pretty screwed up by the radiation wave himself. Planning out his battle like another game of chess, Lelouch has made his move, but the question is, how will Cornelia react?
