Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island is a theatrical film released internationally in 2022. It is an expanded reinterpretation of the episode of the same name from the 1979 TV series Mobile Suit Gundam, which has been excluded from international releases of the series since 2001. Directed by and featuring character designs from Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the movie’s staff included screenwriter Toshizo Nemoto, veteran mechanical designers Hajime Katoki, Kunio Okawara and Kimitoshi Yamane, and a score by composer Takayuki Hattori. Set during the One Year War in UC 0079, the movie focuses on Gundam pilot Amuro Ray, who goes missing on a desolate island during a scouting mission. Crunchyroll released the movie on home video in North America in 2024.
