In the military chaos following the 7th Space War, civilians modified mobile weapons or made custom units for their own personal use. One such unit was the custom built mobile armor DTM-700D Esperansa. The Esperansa was quite fast and armed with two powerful beam cannons, which proved to be a strong and accurate weapon. The Esperansa was also equipped with two machine cannons, but it lacked any short-range weapons like most mobile armors. Only one unit was confirmed built and was piloted by Ennil El in an aborted attack on the Vulture ship Freeden. Ennil was later attacked by the Frost brothers after accidentally discovering the secret development of the GX-9901-DX Gundam Double X at the New U.N.E.’s Zonder Epta island base. The Esperansa was destroyed by the NRX-0013 Gundam Virsago and NRX-0015 Gundam Ashtaron, but a wounded Ennil survived and was picked up by the Freeden.
