Dunbine Ep. 13: Todd’s Violent Advance

0
Summary

Shou and Keen head out on a practice run with the Shoot and Fou. Keen has trouble maneuvering the Fou. Meanwhile Bern gets upset with Todd for not being able to destroy the Dunbine and Zelana. Todd wants Shot to make him another Dunbine, refusing to acknowledge that Shou has more Aura Power than him. Bern and Shot are called back to Laas Wau where Drake plans to use Silkie to summon more people from Upper Earth. Riml is upset at what they are doing, particularly when Drake lies and says Riml’s life is in danger. Silkie passes out, and Drake decides to leave her outside until she does what he wants. Todd finds Garalia trying to ask out Zet on a date. He asks her if instead she would like to go on a date with him – yet another attack on Lao’s armory. She agrees and they decide to meet later that night. At Taatara Castle Shou thinks they should try and capture Shot or Zet since they are undermanned in Aura Battler development. Doruboru wants to get his hands on the Aura Amplifier Shot is supposedly creating, a device allowing those on Byston Well to pilot Aura Battlers as well as those from Upper Earth. Thinking of when Louser threatened Riml’s life, Silkie decides to summon more people from Upper Earth. Todd, watching from nearby is shocked to find that he knows one of them, a man named Allen. Garalia waits in the woods, wondering where Todd is. Todd heads out, worried about this latest development. A soldier reports his actions to Bern. Shot tells Bern to treat the new people from Upper Earth more leisurely this time so they don’t defect like Shou did.

Todd meets up with Garalia, who was able to get a Virunvee for herself from Zet. Todd tells her about Allen’s arrival and how he must prove himself. He heads out ahead of her to lure out the Dunbine and Zelana. Todd heads out on his Drumlo and lets the Barau he’s traveling on crash into the castle. He sneaks his way through the woods so no one can see him. Shou heads out in the Dunbine and is attacked by Todd from the woods below. The two of them duel. Marvel wonders why only one Drumlo is attacking them. Nie tells her to head out on a Bozune and Keen on the Fou. The Zelana heads out to join the attack. Foizon is upset over Drake attacking twice in such short a period of time. Todd flees from the castle and Shou follows him. Garalia takes the opportunity to attack the castle. Marvel takes off in the Bozune and fights her. Keen heads out on the Fou to help Shou. Marvel is finding the Virunvee too tough for her. The Virunvee flies into the Zelana and deals heavy damage to it from within. By turning the Zelana on its side Nie distracts Garalia long enough for Marvel to knock her out of the ship. Todd is shocked to find that he has run out of ammunition. The Dunbine, now combined with the Fou blasts the Drumlo and sends it crashing to the woods below. Todd falls out of the Aura Battler and his fall is shielded by a tree that he hits. Garalia retreats. At the castle, Garalia explains what happened, and Bern is upset with her. A shabby looking woman in the woods finds Todd.

Commentary

Another episode that is mostly filler as Garalia and Todd head out yet again against orders to attack. Garalia going out on her own so much is quite annoying, although in this case I can’t really blame Todd. This episode does feature three more people coming from Upper Earth although all we know about them at this point is that Todd was familiar with one of them. I wonder if any of them will defect like Shou did, or if they’ll take Todd’s place now that he seems to be incapacitated for a while. Garalia thinks that he died, but I predict this isn’t the last we’ll see of him.
