Dunbine Ep. 15: Furaon Moves Not

0
Summary

Nie flies around on a Shoot looking for Drake’s hidden forces and runs into Garalia and her Bastole. He is forced to retreat back to the Zelana. Keen and Chum in the lookout tower notice men from Elf Castle coming. They meet with Nie, asking the Zelana to enter Elf Castle. Nie agrees, in exchange for them agreeing to participate in a joint attack on Drake’s headquarters that night. Garalia returns there and asks Zet to add a machine gun to the Bastole. Drake tells Shot that he sees nervousness and Bern’s camp. Musiy arrives with thanks from Garalia. Shot thinks he can draw the utmost Aura Power using the Bastole, although it might result in ill fortune for Garalia. He reveals his plans to eventually overtake Drake himself and tells her she will be his Queen. At Elf Castle Furaon refuses to let any of his soldiers participate in the raid with the Zelana. The Zelana heads out on the raid, unaware of this development, and deploys its Aura Battlers. The raid initially catches them by surprise, and Bern quickly dispatches their troops including the three new pilots from Upper Earth. Keen and Nie are surprised that reinforcement from Elf Castle haven’t arrived yet. King Furaon’s underlings beg him to send reinforcements, but he still refuses. Shou battles Bern and gets the best of him once again, but it’s not long before the Zelana and its Aura Battlers run out of ammunition and are forced to retreat.

On the Zelana, everyone is tired, and disappointed that they weren’t able to get help from Elf Castle. At Drake’s headquarters Nigu Rou informs Drake of the arrangement, and that the Zelana and Elf Castle have not yet joined forces. Drake is angry at Bern for allowing the night time attack and reluctantly consents to an attack on Elf Castle the next morning. Garalia taunts Bern when she arrives and the troops head out soon after. The three new pilots from Upper Earth stay behind. Hon Wan, who just nearly escaped an attack from Nigu Rou shows up at the Zelana and informs Nie of the upcoming attack. Neither Nie nor Shou wants to help after what happened the night before, but Marvel and Keen want to head to Elf Castle and bring the Zelana there. Furaon Elf blames the Zelana‘s raid for the attack then gets mad that they haven’t shown up to help. His Virunvee damaged, Bern attacks in a Drumlo and orders Garalia in her Bastole to attack the Zelana when it arrives soon after. Bern angrily attacks Shou, blaming him for his recent humiliations. Furaon’s advisors beg him to send troops towards Drake’s headquarters now, at a time when they should be short handed but he still won’t listen to them. While attacking Garalia, Bern manages to cut the leg off the Dunbine and damage its arm. Shou is upset for not having enough Aura Power and retreats to the Zelana. Everyone tries to make him feel better but Shou is depressed about his recent defeat.

Commentary

Furaon Elf proves himself as one of the more annoying and stupid characters in the show in this episode by refusing to help the Zelana at all even after his advisors promise it. He better watch out, as Nie and Shou nearly stop trying to help. I certainly won’t be too disappointed when he’s gone, hopefully that’s not too far off from now. Bern has been humiliated multiple times by Shou lately but he finally defeats him at the end of this episode. Looks like the Dunbine may not be able to stay up to pace anymore at this point.
