Dunbine Ep. 28: Graon‘s Takeoff

0
Summary

The Zelana heads over the sea, mobbed by seagulls. Shou hopes this isn’t a bad omen of things to come. Elle cries, thinking of her grandfather saying she feels as if something horrible is going to happen. She tells Shou a huge shadow is going to engulf Foizon, and eventually all of Lao as well. Shou wonders if it could be the Will Wipps, Bishot’s army, or something else. Shou tells Nie they should head to a mountain range in Lao, Karakara and Nie agrees. The Dunbine and Fou head out ahead of the Zelana. Shou decides to head to Naburo first where they encounter a squad of Tungys lead by Jerryl. The Dunbine and Fou separate and quickly take out multiple Tungys. Their large numbers overwhelm the Dunbine however and they tie it up. The Dunbine is narrowly able to dodge Jerryl’s attacks and Marvel helps him get loose. Aboard the Will Wipps, Shot thinks of how easy their conquests will be now. He informs Drake that Bishot’s forces have arrived, but they are shocked to find out its only one Aura Ship and handful of Aura Battlers, including Todd on the Vierres. Damaged by Marvel’s attack, Jerryl tries crashing the Tungy into the Fou, but Shou arrives and destroys the Tungy. Jerryl narrowly escapes, again. Shou tells Marvel he overheard them talking about heading to Karakara, like they had thought earlier. The Dunbine returns to the Zelana, making Elle and Nie happy. Huge numbers of Aura Battlers exit the Will Wipps as it heads towards Karakara. The Zelana, already there, is attacked by King Foizon, who immediately stops when he realizes who they are. The Zelana realizes that Foizon has Aura Battlers everywhere throughout the mountain. He gets on the Zelana to greet them. Nie tells Foizon Elle’s prediction is why they are there so early. Marvel tells Foizon his daughter died but he shows no emotion, instead talking about what their next move in battle will be. Both Elle and Shou sense that Foizon has acquired a great power. Before they can finish their conversation however, the enemy arrives.

Foizon orders his units of Tai Aura Bombs to attack Drake’s incoming soldiers. Shou wonders if even the Zelana will make it through this battle. Drake’s forces, led by Mizeru on the Bull Beggar attack with their Doros and Drumlos. Shou attacks the Bull Beggar, which is defended by Allen in the Virunvee. Shou tells Allen Drake is using him, but Allen says its the other way around. Shou damages the Virunvee and Allen flees. The epic battle continues and many Aura Battlers on both sides go down. Allen attacks King Foizon’s Botune and cuts off its arm. Luckily Shou arrives to help and he battles Allen once more. Marvel fights Todd. Watching Allen fight Shou, Mizeru wonders if he’s conspiring with Shou since they’re both from Upper Earth. Allen’s cause isn’t helped when he accidentally cuts through the Bull Beggar‘s bridge. This distracts Allen long enough for Shou to slice through the Virunvee, but Allen narrowly escapes yet again. Shot and Drake are informed of the Bull Beggar being damaged so they decide to have the Will Wipps enter Karakara as well and join in on the battle. As the Zelana approaches the Will Wipps, Elle warns Nie not to get in front of it or they will be defeated. The Zelana receives orders to go behind the seaweed in the mountain. There, Foizon shouts out orders on Lao’s secret weapon, the Graon, an Aura Battleship, which fires upon the Will Wipps. Elle realizes this is the giant shadow she was sensing before as the Graon shows itself. Shot is angry about how Lao was able to construct such a craft in secret. Drake decides to retreat, they have underestimated the enemy. Lao’s soldiers cheer their victory and the great power of the Graon. Foizon tells everyone that the Graon isn’t finished, and they have to make sure enemy spies don’t realize that. Marvel tells Foizon that Elle senses that he is engulfed in the power of the Graon and will lead Byston Well in a bad direction. Elle says that power which has engulfed Foizon led to her mother’s death and will destroy Byston Well eventually. She thinks they should use this power to open a better road with Shou’s help. She passes out into Shou’s arms.

Commentary

Things are really heating up as Drake’s forces lead their full scale attack on the Karakara mountains in an attempt to reach Lao’s capital. Foizon has his own surprise with the massive Graon battleship which we were given some hints of a few episodes ago. The action is getting better than ever, and you can really feel that things are building up to something big. One frustration? Jerryl and Allen continue to get quite lucky, escaping from Shou time and time again. That luck can only last so long I sense… At this point in the series each episode is better than the last. I can’t wait to see what’s coming up.
