The F71 VSBR Test Base G-Cannon was a modified version of the standard F71 G-Cannon. The G-Cannon’s machine cannons were replaced with a pair of Variable Speed Beam Rifles (VSBR), a new type of beam weapon that allowed the pilot to adjust the velocity of mega particles, resulting in either low-speed beams that increased damage over a wide area, or high-speed beams with increased penetration power. VSBRs were later implemented in SNRI’s F91 Gundam F91. Other than the removal of the machine cannons, the remainder of the Test Base’s armaments were the same as the standard version.
