One of many F90 Gundam F90 optional armament variations developed by the Earth Federation Forces’ SNRI during the UC 0110s and 0120s, the F90K Gundam F90 K-Type (Keep) was designed to protect bases and motherships in long, drawn-out battles. The K-Type prioritized defense over offense, and its equipment included six I-field generators mounted on the shoulder hardpoints. Collectively, the I-field generators allowed the K-Type to deflect beams from mega particle cannons. It also carried a prototype mega beam shield connected by cable to a power generator mounted on the rear skirt armor. The K-Type’s offensive weapons were limited to standard vulcan guns, beam sabers and a beam rifle. Because the K-Type was intended to provide defense for surrounding mobile suits, it depended on them for offensive capabilities. In UC 0112, test pilot Patsy Angelika conducted a field test of the K-Type and was drawn into live combat by the mercenary group GBG as a setup to a duel with the mobile armor RDG-3 Tigris.
