One of many F90 Gundam F90 optional armament variations developed by the Earth Federation Forces’ SNRI during the UC 0110s and 0120s, the F90U Gundam F90 U-Type (Up-Lift) was developed for atmospheric escape. Compared to other mission packs, the U-Type utilized a full-range aircraft that could operate on the ground and in space. A large cylindrical unit was attached to the U-Type’s shoulder hardpoints for travel into space. Additionally, cover parts were mounted over the suit to protect important components like the cockpit and head. After achieving atmospheric escape, the U-Type could eject its equipment and quickly transition to battle. The U-Type’s armaments included vulcan guns, beam sabers, a shield and a beam rifle. In UC 0115, Gideon Blondin piloted the U-Type into space so that Unit 2 could be transferred to the Fastest Formula special forces unit.
