By Kyoko and Chidori are running away from a trio of punks who were trying to harass them. Issei Tsubaki steps in and beats them up. When Chidori thanks him, Issei replies that he only did it because it was disturbing his workplace. Chidori restrains herself and puts a bandage over his injured hand. When he sees her face clearly up close it’s love at first sight. At school, Chidori and Sousuke have to give an eviction notice to the karate club because their dojo is to be demolished. However, the members refuse to leave until they get a replacement room or are forced to. Sousuke accepts their challenge and dispatches the first member with a rubber bullet and the second with gas. When Chidori explains that he has to beat them barehanded, Sousuke distracts the last member with a grenade and beats him up. Chidori smacks him over the head for cheating and Tsubaki shows up saying that they still have to go through him. Because he’s near sighted, he can’t recognize Chidori and tells Sousuke to try any method he likes to defeat him. They fight and Tsubaki knocks Sousuke into a wall. Tsubaki declares himself the winner and orders Chidori out of the dojo. Sousuke gets up and discards all his weapons, saying that he now understands the feelings of martial artists. Tsubaki puts on his glasses in order to see more clearly. He suddenly recognizes Chidori, and she finally understands what his problem is. Sousuke uses the distraction to punch Tsubaki and win. As the dojo gets demolished, Tsubaki tells Sousuke that he won’t back down from trying to win Chidori and Sousuke tells him to try anytime, much to Chidori’s annoyance.
Tsubaki waits for Sousuke on the school’s roof, but the latter doesn’t show up because he blew up the shoe lockers again out of suspicion of Tsubaki’s challenge letter. Angered, Tsubaki chases after Sousuke and ends up punching Oonuki Zenji, the janitor. At the student council room, Atsunobu tells Tsubaki that Chidori is not a prize to be won, and to settle his issues with Sousuke in a contest of janitorial duties while Zenji recovers. If Tsubaki wins, he gets a new club room, otherwise he leaves Sousuke alone. At first, Zenji is deeply moved by their desire to assist in his duties, but when their competition causes them to sabotage each other’s attempts, Zenji puts his foot down. He lectures them on the meaninglessness of quarrel and virtue of cooperation. Sousuke and Tsubaki respond by presenting him with a well cooked fish dinner they made together. All is well until Zenji finds out they made it from the pet carp he was taking care of for 15 years in the nearby lake. Zenji goes berserk and fires up a chainsaw with intent to kill. Sousuke and Tsubaki spend all night fighting him and the next morning Chidori arrives to see the school wrecked. She finds Sousuke and Tsubaki in a hallway mumbling and Zenji wakes up with no recollection of what happened.
Sousuke gets a new rival here in the form of Tsubaki, who looks like a combination of Ryoga Hibiki and Mousse from Ranma ½. Not much else in the first part aside from watching Sousuke defeat those poor karate club members, and I’m starting to wonder just where exactly Sousuke hides that shotgun. The poor victim of the second part was Zenji the janitor, who suffered the combined might of Sousuke’s rash behavior and Tsubaki’s near-sightedness. The resulting manifestation of superhuman feats kept the two busy fighting for their lives. I’d love to see berserk Zenji take on Bonta-kun but it appears that will not come to pass.
