A Baltic nation is undergoing a civil war. A battalion of tanks and C3-5 Mistral II arm slaves stops at a church where all the wounded are located. Inside the Mithril helicopters flying to the scene, Sousuke starts up the Arbalest and Mao informs the team that they’re late. Dr. Jidobodo begs Colonel Maress not to harm the innocent civilian, and Maress responds by shooting him in the stomach. The helicopters activate their ECS and prepare to drop the arm slaves. Sousuke drops and takes out a Mistral just as Maress is about to give the signal to shoot the civilians. Weber starts sniping the enemy and Mao jams their radar and communications. Sousuke takes out more targets while Maress escapes in a jeep. An officer asks Maress who the enemy is and the latter replies it’s Mithril. They both wonder why Mithril is helping the refugees and Maress decides to call in reinforcements. Sousuke, Weber and Mao mop up the remaining enemies and form a perimeter around the church to allow the helicopters to pick up the refugees. Mao and Weber discuss the situation, and an invisible reconnaissance helicopter reports the approaching reinforcements before being hit by a missile. It crashes but the pilots survive and manage to send the data about the projectile, which to Mao’s surprise turns out to be an anti-ECS missile. The transport helicopters can’t take off because of this, and Mao orders them to fly at low altitudes while the M9’s escort. Sousuke takes off to try to destroy the missile launcher. Maress sends orders to the northern army so they can surround the helicopters. The helicopters along with Mao and Weber leave just as the church gets bombarded by artillery. The Mistrals start firing missiles and Mao uses her ECS to draw them away from the helicopters. Sousuke reaches the missile launcher site and destroys it, opening a hole in the anti-air net. Mao and Weber load their M9’s in the helicopters and Sousuke rushes to the escape route on his own. The helicopters take off and activate their ECS.
Sousuke runs through the city desperately trying to avoid the enemy. His shot cannon runs out of ammo and tanks fire at the Arbalest. Sousuke can’t avoid them but manages to activate the Lambda Driver and block the shots. Sousuke tries to contact Mao with plans to change the escape route, but Tessa responds instead. She tells him that the transport helicopters are on a communication blackout and orders him to follow her instructions. Tessa transmits a new escape point and orders Sousuke to head there. Mardukas tells Tessa that they’re arrived at the target, and the latter tells him to prepare for maximum dive on her signal. Maress thinks he has the Arbalest trapped on the bridge. Sousuke evades more enemy fire and destroys a tank and a Mistral. He reaches the target and notes that he’s completely surrounded. Al suggests self-destructing the Arbalest but Sousuke flatly rejects the idea. Maress taunts Sousuke by counting down from ten. Sousuke jumps off the bridge and lands on top of the surfacing Tuatha de Danaan. Tessa has multi-war head missile fired and the surrounding forces are destroyed while the Tuatha de Danaan dives back into the water. Later, Sousuke tries to study his history notes but can’t seem to memorize them much to Weber’s despair. Mao chastises Weber for looking down on Sousuke when he himself can’t write a proper report. With the Tuatha de Danaan out of enemy territory, Tessa hands command over to Mardukas and leaves the bridge. She finds Sousuke in the mess hall trying to do his homework. She asks if it’s hard, and Sousuke replies that it’s part of the mission. Sousuke thanks Tessa for saving him but she waves it off as part of the mission. Meanwhile, Chidori is fuming because Sousuke skipped school for two days and took her notes with him. An invisible helicopter drops Sousuke on the roof of the school and he heads for class. Chidori demands her notes and Sousuke realizes that he forgot them back on the Tuatha de Danaan, prompting the usual beating from Chidori. Tessa, Mardukas and Kalinin study the anti-ECS missiles. Kalinin surmises that such advanced technology could only have fallen in the Baltic government’s hands by a powerful independent organization who knew Mithril was coming. Kalinin thinks this is linked to Gaulon’s jacking of the Tuatha de Danaan, and they all agree that they must be very careful from now on.
After the silly antics of Fumoffu, The Second Raid starts off dead serious with Mithril intervening in a civil war. Chidori barely gets any screen time here. We see that Sousuke hasn’t bothered mastering the Lambda Driver and this will cause much grief for him later on. A new mysterious organization provided advanced technologies to Maress, and since Kalinin relates this to the sea-jacking incident at the end of the first season of FMP, we may finally find out about Gaulon’s employer.
