The FXA-08R-X1 Proto Mega Rider was a unit developed as a support weapon for a three mobile suit team. With living space for pilots and storage space for food, supplies and ammo, the Proto Mega Rider functioned as a sort of mobile base. The Mega Rider’s name was derived from it being based on the FHA-03M1 Mega Bazooka Launcher and a mobile suit’s ability to ride it like a motorcycle. One mobile suit docked on the Proto Mega Rider, with the other two carried in tow. The Proto Mega Rider was equipped with a sensor radome for scouting and was additionally armed with missile pods and Gatling guns. The Proto Mega Rider was involved in an accident at a derelict colony used as a test site. As a result, the Proto Mega Rider’s design was refined, and the unit was produced as the FXA-08R Mega Rider, used by the AEUG during the First Neo Zeon War in UC 0088.
