Two years ago right after Galeon attacks Pasdar in space, the former also crashed in Tokyo and was found by Leo and his investigation team. Galeon opens his mouth and reveals a barely alive Guy clutching a G-Stone. Using the information stored inside, Leo is able to recreate the energy system powering Galeon for use in Guy’s cyborg body and all the 3G robots: The GS-Ride. In the present, a massive black cloud covers all of Tokyo and blocks out the sun. 3G is baffled, because the cloud composition is normal but it’s too large for them to pinpoint the core’s location. Mamoru insists it’s a Zonder, and recalls when he was with his friends at a hot air balloon festival. Sunou offers everyone a ride on his private balloon, but everyone except Hana backs out. Although Sunou’s balloon was designed to look like a chocolate ice cream cone, it ends up actually looking like a giant turd. Just then Mamoru senses a Zonder and a zeppelin nearby unleashes a cloud of black smoke that grows and engulfs all the other balloons. Guy assures Mamoru they’ll defeat the Zonder, and EnRyu volunteers to investigate. However HyoRyu is quick to remind him that they can’t fly and the heat from their engines could ignite the chemicals in the cloud and cause a huge explosion. Guy settles on investigating the cloud by himself using StealthGao. In Pasdar’s lair, the Machine Kings assemble and Pizza takes credit for the latest Zonder, who was a disgruntled salary man wishing he was free as a cloud. Pizza explains that it’s also unapproachable thanks to its plasma barrier, and Pasdar praises his work. GaiGar docks with StealthGao and takes off towards the cloud, but the lightning storm from the plasma barrier impedes his progress. Entouji studies the data and notes that it’s creating static on its exterior. Swan spots an airflow on its side and Guy uses it to enter. 3G loses contact with Guy due to the storm and Guy finds himself staring at the bizarre interior of the cloud.
Being unable to detect Guy, 3G assumes the worst. Mikoto’s on the verge of tears but Hyuuma assures here that Guy’s too stubborn to die. Mamoru adds that he can still sense Guy. In the cloud, Guy suddenly dreams that he’s back in his high school days with Mikoto. She finds him sleeping under a tree and asks what he’s doing there when he should prepare for his pilot test. At first Guy is confused, but slowly he recalls everything again. Before he leaves, Mikoto gives him a pendant with her picture in it so he will never forget her. Guy wakes up in the cloud and opens his chest plate, revealing the pendant in a small storage compartment. He thanks Mikoto and looks up at the Zonder’s main body. Summoning Galeon, Guy fuses into GaiGar again and climbs up the body, finding the trapped balloons at the top. He signals for 3G to mobilize HyoRyu, EnRyu and the rest of the Gao machines. HyoRyu and EnRyu land beneath the cloud and form ChoRyuJin, while the Gao machines reach Guy and form GaoGaiGar. Guy docks with the following Dividing Driver and makes a hole in the cloud’s top, releasing the trapped balloons which are picked up by the U-Tech Laboratory ship. Guy charges at the Zonder body with Hell and Heaven. The Zonder tries to repel Guy by firing missiles but Guy breaks through. He grabs the core and escapes just as the cloud explodes. ChoRyuJin fires a large Eraser Head and dissipates the explosion. As Mamoru purifies the core, Guy wonders about the purpose of those missiles, of which there was a countless amount inside the Zonder’s body.
This episode certainly brought us the most bizarre Zonder so far, and was apparently commandeered by Pizza without Pasdar’s knowledge. Had 3G not put a stop to it soon, it would have probably fired the insane amount of missiles housed within its body to an unknown but probably devastating effect. But right now 3G has no idea what they were. What we did learn through the flashbacks is that Guy has known Mikoto since high school, though it’s a bit cheeky that the animators used the scene as an excuse to recycle old footage and reiterate facts we’ve already known for a while, especially when we were never given an explanation for why Guy fell out of Galeon after mysteriously passing out.
