Despite the theft of the prototype GAT-X102 Duel Gundam, the Earth Alliance created a limited production version, the GAT-01D Long Dagger. The Long Dagger took the basic design of the Duel Gundam and incorporated an armored Fortrestra mode similar to ZAFT’s Assault Shroud. As a high performance unit, the Long Dagger was tested by combat Coordinators such as Eleven Socius. The Alliance later created the GAT-01D1 Duel Dagger, which was identical to the Long Dagger, aside from the inclusion of a Natural-use operating system. The Duel Dagger was assigned to ace pilots like Edward Harrelson and Rena Imelia.
