In Neo Turkey, a bum tells Rain that the Minaret Gundam has been on the rampage and destroyed half of Istanbul. He thinks that if the rest of the world finds out, Neo Turkey will be humiliated. He says the government is trying to hide the truth, but God knows the truth and it will be revealed eventually. Rain waits for Domon and sees her old friend Saette Gyuzelle collapse. As she treats his wounds, Domon decides to leave her alone. He accidentally discovers a Gundam starter key and leaves. Rain asks Saette if she can look at his arm, and she is shocked to see it is turning metallic because of Devil Gundam cells. She remembers being in the Neo Japan colony and being told by her father how the DG cells can enter a living body and multiply, eventually taking control of it. If a human is infected, it will be completely under the control of the Devil Gundam. However, the patient can be treated if the DG cells haven’t infected the brain yet. Saette asks Rain if Domon is her boyfriend, and she says she just works with him. Saette notices that it is raining, and he remembers it was also raining on the day he was waiting for her and she never came. As Rain prepares an injection, Saette begins choking her, but he regains control. Domon searches a junkyard and finds the Minaret Gundam. Inside is a picture of Saette holding Rain. Domon comes back and looks at Saette’s arm. He wants to ask Saette about Kyoji, even if it means fighting him, but Rain refuses to let Saette fight. Domon says she is his partner, and she says she can’t let Saette worsen his condition. He asks her if that is the real reason.
Domon leaves and has a drink at an outdoor café. Saette tells Rain that after she didn’t show up on that particular day, he became a Gundam Fighter and was engaged in many battles. However, one day he encountered the Devil Gundam and was defeated by it. Afterwards, whenever he piloted the Minaret Gundam, he lost control and found himself doing horrible things. He says that on that day he was going to make a very important decision: to become a Gundam Fighter, or stay with Rain. Domon returns and says the army has found them. Saette distracts the army so that Domon and Rain can escape. He runs away and gets inside the Minaret Gundam, where the DG cells merge him with the Minaret Gundam. Domon calls the Shining Gundam and attacks. He severs one of the Minaret Gundam’s arms, but the DG cells reconnect the arm. Saette attacks and tosses away Domon’s beam saber. He corners Domon and places his sword on the Shining Gundam’s head. Rain gets on top of the Shining Gundam and talks to Saette. She tells him she left because of the incident with Kyoji, not because she hated him. Saette takes control again and backs off. Rain begs Domon not to kill Saette, and he tells her to shut up and says anyone involved with the Devil Gundam must die. He uses the Shining Finger, and the Minaret Gundam is engulfed in green flames. Afterwards, Saette recovers in a hospital, free of the DG cells. Rain says the government will go easy on him because they now know he was sick and couldn’t control his actions. She tells Domon her work as a doctor is complete and that she can rejoin him as his partner now.
Now, this is more like it: a story with some drama and a good conflict. We get some backstory about Rain and learn that Saette was her lover, and he wanted to spend his life with her. However, the Devil Gundam interrupted that and changed things. Also, I noticed some hesitation on Rain’s part when Saette asked her if Domon is her boyfriend. Looks like she might have feelings for him that have yet to be revealed. We also learn the true horror of the Devil Gundam and its DG cells: the ability to enslave the human race. It seems the Devil Gundam has been going all over the place, infecting people. If Domon doesn’t do something, too many people will be infected for him to stop.
