G Gundam Ep. 13: Big Trouble! The Enemy is 5 Big Gundams

0
Summary

The Death Army continues to attack Shinjuku. Master Asia destroys several suits on his own, and he’s joined by Domon in the Shining Gundam. Since the Death Army suits are controlled by Kyoji, Domon vows to destroy every one of them. Elsewhere, George plays a sad song on a piano. Master Asia holds a meeting and tells people that they picked up the song on the radio, which means there are survivors. The signal originates from Tokyo Tower, and Master Asia wants to investigate it with Domon. The mayor disagrees, and other men think a large force is needed, but Master Asia says a smaller force is less conspicuous. They both leave in their Gundams and head for Tokyo Tower, where they are attacked by several Death Army suits. After destroying them, Master Asia gets out of the Kowloon Gundam and challenges Domon to compete with him to get to Tokyo Tower on foot. Rain chases after Domon when she discovers four power signatures at Tokyo Tower that could be Gundams. He tells her to stay behind with the Shining Gundam and fix the arm. Without Rain noticing, the Kowloon Gundam moves from where Master Asia left it. Domon goes into the subway and wonders if he can activate the trains. He gets onto an arriving train and finds Chibodee reading a newspaper. Chibodee attacks and nearly throws him out of the train. Domon jumps out and continues in the tunnel. As Rain adjusts the Shining Gundam and finds no problems, she is surrounded by Death Army suits and a mysterious Gundam. As Domon continues through the subway, two trains head for him on a collision course.

Domon jumps over the trains and escapes the trap. Using cameras hidden in the subway, Sai Saici watches Domon. Rain is attacked by the Death Army, so she activates the Mobile Trace System and puts on a fighting suit to fight back. Domon arrives at a junction, and many cars come at them. He avoids them all, but Argo appears and throws one at him. Domon escapes, and Argo gets onto a train with Chibodee. Rain fights off the Death Army and is attacked by a flying black Gundam on her way to meet Domon. Domon arrives at Tokyo Tower and finds George playing the piano. Chibodee, Argo, and Sai Saici appear and attack Domon with incredible power. They say that he should get the same power too. He wonders if they now serve Kyoji. The Shining Gundam crashes through the ceiling, and Domon gets inside. He asks Rain why she put on a fighting suit, and she tells him she was attacked by the Death Army and a Gundam. He finds the other four have prepared their Gundams for a fight. The black Gundam lands nearby and deploys its cloak. It performs the special move Darkness Finger, which is able to repel the Shining Finger. Domon asks Rain to escape with the Core Lander, but she tells him she will fight alongside him no matter what. She helps him perform another Shining Finger that drives away the Master Gundam and the other four Gundams. Domon wakes up to find Master Asia and tells him what happened. Master Asia sees that the enemy is much more powerful than they had thought previously.

Commentary

Now things are certainly starting to get interesting. The series seems to be going into a multiple episode arc with these Shinjuku episodes. As the Death Army continues its attack, Domon and Master Asia keep fighting them. I find it odd that during such a serious time Master Asia would want to have a competition with Domon. And where did he disappear to when Domon was attacked by his friends and Rain by the Death Army and the black Gundam? Also, what is going on with Domon’s friends? They don’t appear to be infected with DG cells, but they are certainly acting evil. Have they been taken over by Kyoji, or did they just betray Domon?
