G Gundam Ep. 16: Ultimate Power and Evil! Rise of the Devil Gundam

The defense force pilots object to working with the Gundam Fighters, because only moments ago they were enemies. Chibodee, George, Sai Saici and Argo want to get their revenge on Master Asia. George decides he will stop participating in the Gundam Fight so that he can find Master Asia and return the favor of the Shuffle Alliance. Everyone else wants to go it alone, and an insult from Nastasha makes Chibodee want to start a Gundam Fight. An earthquake begins to rock the city, and it goes on too long to be natural. The ground crumbles, causing everyone to fall underground. Rain finds herself with Chibodee and George, and they begin to search for an exit. Argo, the monks and Chibodee’s girls are in another group, and Bunny remembers being watched by the Devil Gundam. She thinks something horrible will happen soon. Domon and Sai Saici are nearly overrun by thousands of rats as they search for an exit. Domon remembers that animals instinctively run away from danger, so he runs towards what they are escaping. Rain, Chibodee and George are attacked by a large number of corpses. Rain escapes and stumbles upon a massive chamber containing the Devil Gundam and Kyoji. She sees Death Army suits being absorbed by the Devil Gundam, and she is attacked. A mysterious masked man saves her and tells her to hurry to the surface. She reaches the surface and finds Master Asia waiting for her. He tries to attack her with his belt, but Domon stops him. Rain and Sai Saici escape, and Master Asia says that the Devil Gundam will soon be resurrected.

Another earthquake begins to shake Shinjuku. Argo and the others are rescued by a group of Nobusshis, which shoot at the corpses. When everyone reaches the surface, Rain tells them that the Devil Gundam is nearby. The Devil Gundam’s enormous cocoon emerges from the one building that had remained standing. Rain realizes that it was hiding there to protect itself while it evolved to its next form. Master Asia appears inside his Master Gundam and says that he willingly serves the Devil Gundam. Chibodee attacks him and is easily beaten. Everyone else attacks, and they are all defeated by Master Asia’s Juuni Ouhouhai move. Domon calls on the Shining Gundam. The Gundam Spiegel piloted by Schwarz Bruder of Neo Germany appears, and the masked Schwarz challenges Master Asia. Schwarz proves to be as powerful as Master Asia when they fight. Schwarz tells Domon to quickly destroy the Devil Gundam while he distracts Master Asia. Domon activates the Super Mode of the Shining Gundam to destroy the Devil Gundam. He uses the Shining Finger Sword, and at the last minute he slashes the cocoon instead of the head. The cocoon absorbs his energy, causing the Devil Gundam to finish its evolution. It emerges from the cocoon and fires at Domon, but Schwarz pushes him out of the way. Master Asia thanks Domon for giving him the energy needed to resurrect the Devil Gundam. He leaves with the Devil Gundam as Domon cries out his name. Afterwards, everyone can’t believe they lost so horribly. Domon sits alone thinking about how Kyoji tried to kill him.

Well, this was an important episode. We finally get to see the Devil Gundam in action after all of these flashbacks and veiled hints about it. It is also revealed that Master Asia is not under anyone’s control and willingly serves the Devil Gundam. Why he does remains to be seen. On the surface, it just appears that he wants power. We’re also introduced to a new character, the ridiculously costumed Schwarz Bruder of Neo Germany. He looks sorta like a cross between a clown and the Shredder. Though he may look foolish, he’s pretty damn powerful if he can fight Master Asia without getting his ass kicked. I wonder if six Gundams will be able to defeat Master Asia and Kyoji now. Perhaps not.
