G Gundam Ep. 18: Steal the Secret! Scheme of the Beautiful Warriors

0
Summary

Domon and Rain arrive at South America’s Guiana Highlands so that he can begin to train and use the Super Mode at will. In New York, Chibodee is engaged in a Gundam Fight with Kill Harn of Neo Mongolia. He has a hallucination where he thinks he is being infected with DG cells. He mercilessly beats down the Temjin Gundam and destroys a bridge. An old man tells Chibodee’s girls that he needs to fight a powerful opponent to become the star that he once was. What the girls don’t know is that the old man is Schwarz in disguise. Chibodee comes back drunk to his hotel room one night and wonders where all the girls are. The girls leave Chibodee a letter saying they can’t stand his cowardliness and are going to the Guiana Highlands to defeat Domon themselves. Chibodee gets the Gundam Maxter and chases after them. Domon jumps off of waterfalls and is disgusted that he can’t even conquer them. When the girls arrive at the Guiana Highlands, Bunny asks if they are going to destroy the Shining Gundam. Shirley explains that they are going to steal it’s data, which means going back to their former selves. They remember how Chibodee gave them jobs when they were petty criminals. Rain doesn’t understand how jumping off of waterfalls allows Domon to become more powerful. She falls asleep, and Shirley sneaks into the Shining Gundam to copy the battle data. Rain wakes up to find them escaping. Chibodee arrives and patrols the area with his Core Lander. He wonders if the girls really think they have any chance of beating Domon. He finds the scenery quite nice and better than what is on the colony. Chibodee then spots Domon and sees him jumping off of a high waterfall.

Chibodee watches Domon train and is amazed by what he is doing. He sees that Domon is also training to fight the Devil Gundam. Chibodee sees that he has to work hard to lose his fear of the Devil Gundam. Rain chases the girls and they split up. Cath and Bunny hide in the bushes, and Bunny screams when she sees a snake. Rain jumps them, and they fall down the side of a hill, injuring Cath. Domon attacks a tree with the rusty sword and sees that he still can’t do what Schwarz can. Chibodee challenges Domon to a Gundam Fight, and Domon accepts so that he can see the results of his training. As they fight, Domon sees that Chibodee’s power has increased. Rain and the girls are trapped on a piece of land that will be flooded by increasing water. Shirley doesn’t want to be shamed by calling Chibodee, and Rain says that the crew must work as partners with their Gundam Fighter. They fire a signal flare, and Chibodee spots them. At the same time, a small tsunami appears, and Domon tries to stop it with his Shining Finger. Chibodee helps out, but it isn’t enough. Domon sees that Rain is in danger and activates the Super Mode. He uses a Shining Finger to divert the course of the water. He then sees that Schwarz has saved Rain and the girls. He tells Domon that his real training has only begun because he still needs to be able to use the Super Mode at will. Chibodee destroys the copy of the battle data, and the girls say they have no right to be his crew. As they leave, he says that he learned a new move because of them. He says he wants to train with the girls, and they are very happy. Rain decides that she and Domon must train hard too.

Commentary

Domon has gone off to train in the Guiana Highlands, but he’s not alone. Chibodee has been negatively affected by his encounter with the Devil Gundam, as evidenced in his match with the Temjin Gundam. The girls decide to help him, thanks to idea planted in their heads by Schwarz. I imagine he’ll find some way to get George, Argo and Sai Saici to come along too and train. Chibodee gets past his problem, but his match also allows Domon to come just a bit closer to mastering the Super Mode. However, will Master Asia and Kyoji leave them alone to increase their power?
