G Gundam Ep. 22: Warriors’ Strong Ties! Break Through the Devil Blockade

0
Summary

Domon and Master Asia use their special moves, which sets off a massive explosion. The heavily damaged Shining Gundam crashes into the ground. The Gundam Heads attack, and Schwarz destroys one to allow everyone to escape. Master Asia leaves and says that he will kill Domon sooner or later. Nastasha holds a meeting and says that the Gundam Heads have completely surrounded the Guiana Highlands. With only two days left until the Finals, they have to escape. The Neo Russian plane can escape with everyone, but it can only carry the Bolt Gundam. Everyone agrees to build a defense line in the valley they are in. Argo is sent to defend the southwest, while Schwarz and Sai Saici cover the north with land mines, and George and Chibodee defend the east. Nastasha expects that since the Gundam Heads have a limited range, Master Asia will be attacking with the Death Army. Schwarz leaves to prepare their escape with a signal flare. Rain tells Domon that the other guys are his enemies in the Gundam Fight, but they can be his friends in times of crisis. He tells her to talk less and work more, and she nearly falls off the platform from a high fever. She insists that Domon let her fix the Shining Gundam. Death Army suits begin attacking Argo, and Sai Saici wants to help. Argo tells him not to because he used to use the same tactic as a space pirate. He says the main force will come from somewhere else. Master Asia sees that they have some tactics, but that means nothing to him. A large group of Death Army and Death Birdy suits begin attacking the Gundam Rose and Gundam Maxter. Elsewhere, Schwarz hopes that everyone will be able to hold out as he approaches a waterfall to prepare their escape route.

Domon sees that Rain has passed out while repairing the Shining Gundam. He wakes her up, and she guides him in making the repairs. She wants to stay with him and fight because it is her Gundam too, and he agrees. Master Asia sees that someone in the enemy group has some war experience, so he sends out all of his forces. Hundreds upon hundreds of Death Army, Death Navy, and Death Birdy suits attack. Everyone fights as much as possible, but the horde of enemy suits is too much to combat. Domon finally finishes the repairs to the Shining Gundam and wants to join the attack. Schwarz tells him not to do so because it is the time for escape. He tells Nastasha to call back all the Gundams, and she does so. Master Asia destroys Schwarz’s mine in the river, and Schwarz begins a special attack. He attacks a waterfall and creates a tidal wave that washes away all the Death Army and the Gundam Heads. The Neo Russian plane takes off, and Nastasha promises to take Rain to Neo Hong Kong. Argo tells Domon he will be waiting for him in Neo Hong Kong. Chibodee, George, and Sai Saici jump into the river to escape, but Domon stays behind. He wants to finish off Master Asia, and the Master Gundam emerges from the water. Master Asia says it was stupid of Domon to stay while his friends escape. Domon says that from now on Master Asia is his enemy, and he will defeat him. Master Asia calls him a fool again and summons the Devil Gundam. Domon is shocked to see it and knows that Kyoji must be inside it.

Commentary

Well, the cliffhanger was pretty quickly resolved, with the Shining Gundam just getting a bit beaten. Master Asia begins his assault and unleashes hordes of Death Army suits and Gundam Heads. Domon and Rain have a tender moment together, and I wonder if that’s supposed to be the spark to a romantic relationship. Thanks to Schwarz’s tactics, everyone is able to escape. Domon, however, decides to stay behind because he has unfinished business with Master Asia and the Devil Gundam. Now that Domon has to face Master Asia and the Devil Gundam alone, it looks like it’s time for a big showdown.
