G Gundam Ep. 34: Stand Up Domon! Raging Tag Team Match

0
Summary

Inside the God Gundam, Alenbie installs a chip in the control system. Rain asks what they are doing, and Alenbie explains that the chip will reduce the amount of energy used in the Hyper Mode. Rain says that as the Fighter of another country, Alenbie shouldn’t be in the God Gundam’s cockpit. Alenbie says it’s no big deal because the fight between her and Domon is over. Rain gets mad and throws Domon and Alenbie into the water. Hoy watches from nearby and thinks that Rain is scary when she’s mad. Later, Karato, Urube, Rain and Dr. Mikamura wait in a lobby for Wong to arrive and announce Domon’s next opponent. Rain sees Schwarz jumping around and follows him. She seems him disappear behind a wall and cannot follow him any further. Schwarz enters the secret chamber containing the Devil Gundam and watches Master Asia and Wong. Master Asia says that Kyoji’s body is in terrible shape from the fight with Domon and will need time to recover. Master Asia spots Schwarz, and Schwarz runs away. He grabs Rain, and they escape from Wong’s guards. Master Asia sends Michelo and Chapman to capture them. Schwarz and Rain are attacked by Michelo in the air, and Chapman shoots at them with a sniper rifle. Michelo destroys a building with his kicks and gets everyone’s attention. Schwarz lands near Domon and Alenbie and vanishes again. Wong’s guards surround Domon and Alenbie, and they think they are the ones. Master Asia attacks Domon, and he sees that Domon’s skills have improved. He tells everyone to back off, and he sees Wong in a nearby car. Wong decides he will punish Domon in the ring for being suspicious.

Rain walks alone and remembers Schwarz telling her to beware of Wong and to help Domon, since she grew up with him. She wonders why Schwarz speaks as if he knew them for a long time. She meets up with Domon, and he asks why Master Asia chased her. She says it was nothing, and Alenbie arrives with important news. The next fight will be a tag team of Domon and Alenbie versus Neo Singapore’s Russets Daggats and his Asura Gundam, and Neo Malaysia’s Gala Garla and his Skull Gundam. A representative tells Domon and the others that the two fights will be held in one ring because the others are damaged. Wong shows up, and Domon asks what his game is. Wong says that Neo Japan can back out anytime it wants to, and Domon says he will definitely win. The tag match begins, and Domon is immediately pulled to the floor by a gravitational field generated by a giant magnet in the ground. Master Asia asks what’s going on, and Wong explains that the God Gundam is experiencing 2,000 Gs and can’t stand up, even if the Hyper Mode is used. Alone, Alenbie’s Nobell Gundam is no match for Russets and Gala. She attacks Russets, but his Asura Gundam splits into several pieces and evades her attack. It then grapples her from behind while the Skull Gundam shoots green gunk at the Nobell Gundam. The two then perform their final moves on Alenbie and knock her down. They then start to attack the God Gundam, and Alenbie gets up again. Domon activates the Hyper Mode, and with Alenbie’s help and the computer chip, they are able to destroy the magnet. They then perform a Bakunetsu Double God Finger on Russets and Gala, and they win the match. Wong is very angry and decides to punish Domon again. He decides that Domon will next fight all four of his friends from the Shuffle Alliance, and the first opponent will be Chibodee.

Commentary

This episode was a bit of a mix of Devil Gundam and Gundam Fight stuff. I thought the first part was better. It looks like the Devil Gundam will soon be ready to fight again. Also, it looks like Master Asia and Wong aren’t getting along so well anymore. The idea of a tag match was a first for this one, but it played a bit over dramatically. Also there’s the super robot logic here of two enemy Gundams means two God Fingers. How the heck can Alenbie’s Nobell Gundam even perform a Bakunetsu God Finger? That doesn’t make much sense. Wong’s announcement of Domon fighting the Shuffle Alliance looks like it’s setting up another multiple episode storyline. I hope they don’t devote one episode per fight, because Domon has already fought these people several times and it would just be repetitive.
