The GN-001/hs-A01D Gundam Avalanche Exia’ was an improved version of the high mobility equipment used in the GN-001/hs-A01 Gundam Avalanche Exia. The addition of the leg-mounted Dash unit was designed to improve the Avalanche Exia’s functions in space. The Dash unit featured improved GN Condensers, which lessen concerns about GN particle consumption. The Avalanche Exia’ also featured a high speed mode like the original, but the arm- and shoulder-mounted parts did not connect because reducing wind resistance was unnecessary in space. The suit featured a new high mobility mode where GN particles were used to manipulate its weight, which improved posture control and close combat mobility without consuming extra particles. A burst mode also improved close range mobility and blanketed the battlefield in high density GN particles to create an advantageous combat environment. The Dash unit was armed with GN Claws, which could deploy a weak GN Field to increase damage, and a GN Beam Saber emitter was hidden in the center of each claw.
During the incident later known as Meteor Nacht, the Union moved a large number of asteroids from Martian orbit to Lagrange 1 to use as raw materials for space colony construction when an unexplained explosion occurs, resulting in one of the larger asteroids starting on a collision course towards Earth. Unbeknownst to the world, the asteroid was one of Celestial Being’s secret warehouses. An incident had occurred inside the warehouse, leading to some of the stored fuel exploding and driving the asteroid towards Earth. The Union deployed its army to stop the asteroid, but they did not have the means necessary to destroy it. Veda determined that it was best to do nothing and let the asteroid disintegrate naturally; since the insides of the asteroid was a warehouse, it would break up into small fragments upon entering the atmosphere. However, as this would have severe consequences for those on the ground, the Gundam Meisters launched to reduce the damage. In space, the Gundam Avalanche Exia’ sliced the asteroid into smaller pieces. In the atmosphere, the GN-003/af-G02 Gundam Kyrios Gust destroyed the incoming fragments that did not burn up. On the ground, the GN-002 Gundam Dynames provided assistance using its super substratospheric altitude gun. The Avalanche Exia’ later led to the development of the GNR-001 GN Arms.
