The GN-007/AL Arios Gundam Ascalon was a heavy weapon configuration of the GN-007 Arios Gundam. The Ascalon added a new back-mounted nose unit and a pair of GN Missile Containers that could be used in both mobile suit and flight modes. The nose unit included a new sensor unit that enhanced search capability during high-speed movement, and it also mounted a GN Beam Cannon. Shoulder parts used in flight mode could compress and guide the GN particles fired by the cannon, producing a beam comparable in power to the GN-005 Gundam Virtue’s GN Bazooka. A GN Sword usable in flight mode at high speed had higher cutting power than the GN Sword from the GN-001 Gundam Exia. Ultimately, the Ascalon configuration was not used for the final battle against the Innovators in 2312 because there was no time to correct balance issues created by the new weapons. The new weapons also caused a drop in mobility when the suit was docked with the GNR-101A GN Archer, so the suit was equipped with the GNHW/M parts for the final battle.

After the battle, Sherilyn Hyde repaired the heavily damaged Arios Gundam and converts it to the Ascalon configuration for use by the recreated Fereshte. Due to the severity of the damage, it was not possible to restore the suit to its original performance levels. With no GN Drives available to Fereshte, the Ascalon was converted to run on a GN Condenser. Because of the Earth Sphere Federation’s surveillance network and control of the orbital elevators, the Ascalon was stationed only on Earth and assigned to Leo Sieg. Leo used the Ascalon mainly in flight mode to conceal its Gundam nature, and optical camouflage was applied to the top surface to prevent satellite detection. In 2314, the Ascalon was assimilated while investigating the presence of alien ELS fragments on Earth. Leo and Dell Erda used an MSJ-06YIII-B Tieren Kyitwo to destroy the assimilated Ascalon.
