The GN-010 Gundam Zabanya was the successor to the earlier GN-002 Gundam Dynames and GN-006 Cherudim Gundam. While those suits functioned as sniper types, the Gundam Zabanya instead served as an all around shooting type that could hit multiple targets. This change also fit the general combat style of Gundam Meister Lyle Dylandy compared to the sniper focus of his deceased brother Neil, the first user of the Lockon Stratos codename. The suit’s frame design was inherited from the Cherudim Gundam. Unlike its predecessors, the Gundam Zabanya did not include a rifle-shaped controller for sniping in the cockpit. Instead, the control sticks included triggers that served the same function, allowing for long-range fire even in normal combat. The suit’s sensor systems were superior to other Gundams, and its various cameras were normally covered and protected by the suit’s armor and only revealed when they were needed. The additional cameras on the shoulders were used to lock on to multiple units at once.
Most of the Gundam Zabanya’s weapons could be deployed as bits, and the suit could be outfitted with different weapons depending on the mission. Thanks to the focus on bit weaponry, the suit could deploy a large number of weapons to fight a large enemy source on its own. However, this made the control system more complex, which necessitated the need for two Haro bots to support Lockon. The GN Holster Bits were based on the Cherudim Gundam’s GN Shield Bits. The suit was normally equipped with 10 bits, and two could combine to form a shield. The bits included the GN Pistol Bit and GN Rifle Bit II, which were deployed at Lockon’s discretion. Different bit types could be combined for powerful beam attacks. The GN Pistol Bit was based on the GN Beam Pistol and could be used either remotely or as a handheld weapon. A blade mounted below the barrel could be used to block an enemy’s close combat weapon. The GN Rifle Bit II was essentially a GN Pistol Bit with additional parts that could also be used handheld or remotely. The rifle bit had a lower rate of fire, but more precise long-range shooting capability. GN Missile Pods mounted throughout the body could be used offensively or or intercepting an enemy attack. Lockon piloted the Gundam Zabanya throughout the ELS conflict of 2314.
