The GNR-101A GN Archer was a transformable mobile suit designed to support the GN-007 Arios Gundam. The GN Archer’s concept was based on the tail booster from the GN-003 Gundam Kyrios, and its body was a modified version of the GNY-0042-874 Gundam Artemie. Because the GN Archer was based on an existing design, its transformation process was rather simple. Celestial Being mechanic Sherilyn Hyde conceived the idea of repurposing the Gundam Artemie into a support unit for the Arios Gundam. When docked, the combined GN-007+GNR-101A Archer Arios had increased speed and firepower. The GN Archer was powered by the Arios Gundam’s GN Drive when docked and could make use of Trans-Am. The GN Archer’s armaments included a pair of GN Vulcan Guns, 16 guided GN Missiles and two GN Beam Rifles. The rifles’ muzzles were larger than a normal beam rifle and could fire a beam with a broader attack area. However, the rifles’ purpose was to protect friendly units rather than attack enemy units. That suited the desires of pilot Soma Peries, who used the GN Archer in a support capacity beginning with A-LAWS’ attack on the African orbital elevator in 2312, which was later known as the Break Pillar incident.
