The GNW-100A Sakibure was classified as a work loader and not built for combat, but many regarded it as a mobile suit due to its high performance. The Sakibure was powered by a newly developed original GN Drive and had the ability to quantum jump. The Sakibure could be classified into different types according to how they were piloted. The original high end type was jointly piloted by ELS and humans, with the ELS in the head and a human in the chest. There were also units piloted only by ELS or by humans. There was also a low cost variant powered by a GN Condenser that was mainly used for work around the Earth Sphere. Another variant was powered by a GN Drive Tau, but only units with an original GN Drive could quantum jump. The arm-mounted containers were used for storing work tools; thus the Sakibure could be adapted for different kinds of work. Sakibure Unit 1 was piloted by Leonard Fiennes/Leo Sig and carried out a quantum jump before the launch of the spaceship Sumeragi and discovered a new life form in an unexplored space region. This data was immediately transmitted back and the planet became the first destination for the Sumeragi.
