The GNX-Y901TW Susanowo was an improved version of the GNX-U02X Masurao and was selected by the Earth Sphere Federation as its next mainstay mobile suit. The Masurao was a hastily completed unit rushed into battle, while the Susanowo represented the completed version of the design. Unlike the Masurao, the Susanowo carried a GN Condenser on its back as standard equipment that was used by the enhanced sabers. The suit’s head-mounted antennae (the “horns”) were an enlarged version of the Masurao’s. The Susanowo was equipped with two GN Tau Drives, but it was not a Twin Drive System like the GN-0000 00 Gundam because the drives were not synchronized. The drives burned out after using the Trans-Am System, so particles in the GN Condenser were used for the Susanowo’s return journey to its home base.

The Susanowo’s armaments included the enhanced sabers “Shiranui” and “Unryu.” The “Shiranui” contained the beam generator from GN Long Beam Saber “Howard,” while the “Unryu” contained the beam generator from GN Short Beam Saber “Daryl.” The blades of both enhanced sabers could be covered by beam sabers, creating composite sabers with the pros of both physical and beam sabers. When the enhanced sabers were wielded separately, the power cable could be directly connected to one of them to supply power from the GN Condenser on the suit’s back. The power cable was connected to the left shoulder when the sabers were used in the combined form “Souten.” The gauntlet was used for dealing with the energy back flow from the enhanced sabers. It was mounted only on the left arm as that was the main arm used for wielding the sabers. It could also be used to block enemy’s attack, but this was an unintended function. The Tri-Punisher was not requested by Mr. Bushido and was fitted on the Susanowo due to its prototype status. When using this weapon, energy was emitted from three launchers to form an energy ball that was later fired at the enemy. The beam chakram and GN Field were the same as those of the Masurao. The Susanowo was used only once in battle and was defeated by Setsuna F. Seiei’s GN-0000+GNR-010 00 Raiser. After the conflict with the Innovators, Graham Aker dropped his Mr. Bushido persona and returned to the regular ESF military as the pilot of a GNX-Y903VW Brave (Commander Test Type).
