Based on the GR-00X Prototype Garland, the GR-002A Military Garland was the successor to the Hargan. Like the Prototype Garland, the Military Garland was capable of transforming on its own without the use of extra parts. The Military Garland featured several improvements over the prototype, including hover flight in maneuver craft mode and sustained flight in maneuver slave mode. The Military Garland was armed with a beam gun and light saber. Several units were deployed in an attempt to capture Prototype Garland pilot Shogo Yahagi before he could make contact with Megazone 23’s control computer, Bahamut.
