By In 2308, the three global superpowers united behind the UN to strike back at Celestial Being. Faced with a surprise attack, Celestial Being held its ground but suffered casualties, including the injury of Gundam Meister Lockon Stratos. In space, Setsuna and Lasse Aeon conduct a combat test on the GN Armor. The Gundam Astraea II drops its optical camouflage, and Lasse explains that the new suit has a Double Drive System. However, due to the lack of available GN Drives, it’s using GN Condensers. Lasse begins the test and docks the GN Armor with the Gundam Astraea II, but unfortunately the docking is unsuccessful. Setsuna detects an enemy signature and takes off in the Gundam Devise Exia to intercept. However, Lasse suggests docking with the GN Armor, which Setsuna then does. Setsuna fires the GN Arms Type-E’s large GN Cannons and is impressed by their power. Setsuna thinks about the previous field experiment with the Devise equipment and comes under fire from the enemy suit. He charges in and uses his large GN Swords to slice the black suit in half. Unbeknownst to Setsuna, another black suit is surveilling him, which allows Ribbons Almark to learn about the existence of the Double Drive System.
This episode acts as a bit of a continuation of the previous episode, as it not only features the Devise equipment, but also the mysterious black suit that has been watching Setsuna. This episode also features the new Gundam Astraea II, which connects back to the original Gundam Astraea from the Gundam 00F manga. Setsuna makes impressive use of the GN Arms and will do so again at the end of season one when he fights Alejandro Corner’s ridiculous golden monstrosities. The episode ends with the revelation that Ribbons knows about the Double Drive System, which falls in line with him using Celestial Being’s technology for his own plans.
